Corporate social responsibility

Good marketing guidance should not depend on the size of your business.

Leeds Digital reserves part of its capacity for people who could not normally afford a senior marketing team, while making practical choices to reduce the avoidable environmental impact of our work.

01
Our commitment

Make senior marketing experience more accessible

We believe every serious business owner should be able to access sound initial marketing guidance. As part of our corporate social responsibility, Leeds Digital makes a limited portion of its advisory capacity available to people and organisations that could not normally afford a senior marketing team.

02
Starting

Start on foundations you can keep

First-time marketing can feel unnecessarily complicated. We help sole traders and young businesses clarify who they serve, explain their offer, choose sensible first channels and retain proper ownership of their website, accounts, data and brand from the beginning.

  • A clear and credible proposition
  • A practical first marketing plan
  • Business-owned domains, accounts and access
  • Priorities that reflect the available time and budget
03
Rebooting

Begin again without discarding everything

A business may have paused its marketing, outgrown its original approach or lost confidence after disappointing work. We review what already exists, preserve anything useful and create a cleaner, more realistic route forward. A reboot should produce renewed direction, not another pile of disconnected activity.

04
Fixing

Put fragmented marketing back in order

When website access is unclear, social accounts are missing, data cannot be trusted or the brand story has drifted, we help establish control. We identify the immediate risks, recover and document what matters, and set out what should be protected, stopped, repaired or rebuilt.

05
Forms of support

Help shaped around the situation

CSR support is considered individually and may take different forms. It can include an initial diagnostic conversation, a focused review, a prioritised starter plan, mentoring, reduced-fee work, a tightly defined pro bono engagement or a referral to a more appropriate source of help.

  • Straightforward advice without a sales presentation
  • A manageable scope with a clear intended outcome
  • Practical documentation the business can retain
  • Introductions or resources when another route is better
06
Fair access

A genuine policy with responsible boundaries

Capacity is limited and support cannot be guaranteed to every applicant. We consider the level of need, the value that experienced guidance could create, the owner's willingness to act and our ability to help responsibly. CSR support is not always free, and it does not automatically become an ongoing agency relationship.

07
Why it matters to us

Responsibility should be visible in how a company behaves

Leeds Digital was founded by Mick Sawyer, a philanthropist with longstanding involvement in charitable and humanitarian work. That outlook is reflected here as a working policy rather than a publicity exercise. We want experienced marketing judgement to reach people who can use it well, including those who are still building the means to pay for a full senior team.

08
Our standard

Leave people with more control, not more dependency

Whether an engagement is commercial, reduced-fee or pro bono, the standard remains the same. We aim to be candid, respectful and useful. Clients should understand what they own, what matters next and how to make better decisions after our involvement.

09
Environmental responsibility

Reduce avoidable impact while remaining useful to clients

Our environmental approach is practical rather than theatrical. We use remote collaboration when travel would add little value, favour rail for suitable journeys, and use electric or lower-emission vehicles where practical. When flying is the only reasonable option, we plan travel carefully and combine work where possible rather than making unnecessary repeat trips.

  • Rail preferred for practical UK and European journeys
  • Electric or lower-emission road travel where available
  • Remote delivery when it protects quality and avoids unnecessary travel
  • Onsite work retained when presence materially improves the outcome
10
Technology and energy

Make digital work efficient as well as effective

Where we control the choice, we favour efficient devices, sensible storage and data-retention practices, renewable or lower-carbon electricity tariffs and technology providers with credible environmental programmes. We avoid replacing working equipment for appearance alone and arrange responsible reuse or recycling when equipment reaches the end of its useful life.

11
Proportionate decisions

Balance carbon, time, cost and client need honestly

We are an international business and will sometimes need to travel. Decisions consider environmental impact alongside safety, accessibility, urgency, cost, time and the value of being onsite. We do not claim that every engagement is carbon neutral, and we do not use vague green language as a substitute for practical choices.

Questions

Useful answers before we speak.

Will Leeds Digital work with a sole trader?

Yes. No business is automatically too small for us to help. The most appropriate support may be a focused advisory session or starter plan rather than a conventional agency retainer.

Is support under the CSR policy always free?

No. Depending on the need and available capacity, support may be pro bono, reduced-fee, fixed-scope or provided as initial guidance and referral. We will explain the basis clearly before any work begins.

What can you help a new business put in place?

We can help clarify the offer and audience, establish essential brand and account ownership, choose realistic channels, set basic measurement and create a prioritised plan that fits the available resources.

Can you help us reboot or repair existing marketing?

Yes. We can review what exists, recover control where possible, identify what remains useful and create an ordered plan for stopping, repairing or rebuilding the rest.

How do you decide who receives CSR support?

Requests are considered individually against genuine need, likely practical benefit, readiness to act, suitability for our expertise and the capacity available at the time.

Will Leeds Digital travel to work onsite?

Yes. We can travel anywhere in the world when onsite work materially improves the outcome. We consider rail, electric or lower-emission road travel and remote preparation first, then choose the most practical route for the client and the work.

Does Leeds Digital claim to be carbon neutral?

No. We make proportionate choices to reduce avoidable emissions and improve technology efficiency, but we do not make an absolute carbon-neutral claim without complete measurement and independent evidence.

A sensible next step

You do not need a perfectly written brief.
